Legal Notice by the son of Abdul Latif
Back in March 2016, Mustak who is the son of famous crime-lord Abdul Latif sent a legal notice to SRK and the producers of Raees asking why and how a film on the life of his father is being made. Raees is based on true events that happened when Abdul Latif was active in Gujarat and nearby areas.
Clash with Kaabil
Hrithik Roshan and SRK have good relations and do not have any negative views about each other. However, their movies Raees and Kaabil are getting launched on the same day which may affect the business of each other. In the statements both the actors refused to have any misunderstandings but the media is taking it as a fight between the Greek God and the Badshah!
The controversies because of Pakistani actors
Mahira Khan who hails from Pakistan is playing a lead role in Raees. After Uri attacks voices against Pakistani actors raised all across India. So much so, SRK along with Raees team had to meet MNS supremo Raj Thackeray and assured him that Mahira will not come back to India for promotions and SRK will not work with any Pakistani artist in future. The team also donated Rs.5 crore to the Indian army.
The complaint by Shia Muslims
Soon after the trailer of the movie was launched, the members of Mumbai’s Shia Muslim community lodged a police complaint against the use of their religious symbols in the film. They also claimed that SRK during his stunts disrespected the symbols and they want every scene that has Shia religious symbols removed from the film.
The issues during shooting
The producers of Raees have to face a lot of criticism while shooting different scenes. They also had a lot of problem in getting permissions from the ASI for shooting at Ahmedabad at the ancient mosque and tomb complex, Sarkhej Roza.
