Age Requirement :
- Minimum Age: Minimum 18 years.
- Experience: Prior experience of at least 3-4 high-altitude treks above 5,000m or a Basic Mountaineering Course (BMC) is mandatory.
Fitness Criteria
- The trekker should be able to cover 10 km in 50-55 minutes.
- Trekkers should be able to carry a 15-18 kg backpack on steep, technical terrain.
- Must be between 18.5 and 26. A medical fitness certificate is mandatory.

Pick-Up Information
Dehradun Railway Station on Day 1.
Private mountain vehicles will be arranged for the drive to Gangotri.
Options to Reach
Flight Option: Fly to Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun, and take a taxi to the railway station.
Reach Dehradun via Nanda Devi Express or Shatabdi from Delhi.
Timeline
Journey Itinerary
Day 1
Drive from Dehradun to Gangotri
The journey begins with a long 8 to 10-hour drive along the Bhagirathi River. You pass through the historic town of Uttarkashi and the beautiful apple orchards of Harsil before reaching the holy town of Gangotri.
Day 2
Acclimatization at Gangotri
A mandatory rest day to adjust to the mountain air. You will go for a short 3-4 km acclimatization walk to the Bhagirathi Shila or Pandu Gufa. In the evening, attend the Ganga Aarti at the temple to experience the local culture.
Day 3
Trek from Gangotri to Bhojwasa
The trek starts on a well-defined trail within the Gangotri National Park. You walk for 14 km along the river, with the majestic Bhagirathi peaks keeping you company. Overnight stay in tents at the Bhojwasa campsite.
Day 4
Trek from Bhojwasa to Tapovan via Gaumukh
You trek to Gaumukh, the snout of the Gangotri Glacier. After crossing the glacier, there is a very steep 2-hour climb to reach the heavenly meadows of Tapovan, located at the base of Mount Shivling.
Day 5
Tapovan to Kedar Dome Base Camp
A short but technical trek over the moraines of the Kedar Glacier. You will set up the Base Camp in a strategic location that serves as the foundation for the climbing phase.
Day 6
Load Ferry to Advance Base Camp
This is a crucial day for acclimatization. The team carries technical gear and supplies to the Advance Base Camp (ABC) and returns to the Base Camp for the night. This "climb high, sleep low" strategy helps the body adjust.
Day 7
Shift to Advance Base Camp
The team moves permanently from the Base Camp to the ABC. This day is spent setting up tents on the glacier and organizing the technical climbing equipment like ropes, ice screws, and snow stakes.
Day 8
Technical Training and Route Opening
The climbing leaders and Sherpas begin opening the route towards Camp 1. Trekkers practice technical skills such as using crampons, ascending with a jumar on fixed ropes, and self-arrest techniques on the snow slopes.
Day 9
Load Ferry and Setup of Camp
A grueling day of carrying high-altitude tents and oxygen cylinders to Camp 1. The terrain involves navigating the technical slopes of the Kedar Dome's lower ridges. Return to ABC for the night.
Day 10
Shift to Camp 1
The team moves to Camp 1. At this altitude, the air is significantly thinner, and the temperature drops well below freezing. The evening is spent hydrating and resting for the final push.
Day 11
Summit Attempt (6,831 m) and Return to Camp 1
The summit push begins around midnight. You climb the massive snow dome using fixed ropes. After 8-10 hours of climbing, you reach the summit for a 360-degree view of the Himalayas. You then descend back to the safety of Camp 1.
Day 12
Reserve Day for Summit
A buffer day kept exclusively for bad weather. If the weather on Day 11 is unfavorable, the summit attempt is made today. If already successful, this day is used for a relaxed descent.
Day 13
Descent from Camp 1 to Tapovan
The team packs up the high-altitude camps and makes a long descent back to the lush meadows of Tapovan. The increase in oxygen levels makes this a very relieving day.
Day 14
Trek from Tapovan to Gangotri
A final long day of trekking (approx 18 km) back down the valley, crossing the glacier and returning to Gangotri town for a warm bed and a celebratory dinner.
Day 15
Drive from Gangotri to Dehradun
The final leg of the journey. You drive back to Dehradun, carrying memories of one of the highest trekking summits in the world.
