Age Requirement :
  • Minimum Age: 14 to 60 years
  • Experience: This trek is suitable for participants having prior experience of trekking. The trek is moderately strenuous, and participants must have a good level of physical fitness to navigate the steep terrain. Participants with high blood pressure and heart conditions should avoid this trek.
Fitness Criteria
  • Good level of physical fitness is required Should be able to walk continuously for 4-5 hours with short breaks Ability to trek on steep inclines and uneven mountain terrain Should be comfortable with altitude changes up to 9,000-10,000 ft Strong cardiovascular endurance required.
  • A 40-50 liters capacity backpack with comfortable padded shoulder straps, hip belt, water-resistant material or rain cover, and multiple compartments for proper organization is required for this multi-day trek.

How to Reach

Options to Reach

By Road:One can drive directly from Delhi or Chandigarh to Bhuntar. The road is well-connected and offers scenic views of the Himalayan landscape throughout the journey.
From Bhuntar:From Bhuntar, hire a taxi to reach Bhanal village, which is the starting point of the Malana Village Trek. Your trek leader will guide you from Bhanal toward Malana village on Day 1.

By Train:

Take a train to Chandigarh railway station. From Chandigarh, board a direct bus to Bhuntar (nearest railway head to Malana village).

By Bus:

Direct buses are available from Chandigarh to Bhuntar. Alternatively, buses are also available from Delhi to Bhuntar via Chandigarh.

Journey Itinerary

Day 1
Bhuntar to Bhanal to Malana
You will drive from Bhuntar to Bhanal village, then trek through dense forests to reach Malana village at an altitude of 8,700 ft.
Day 2
Rest day at Malana
Spend the day exploring Malana village, visit Jamlu Devta temple, and enjoy stunning views of the Parvati Valley.
Day 3
Malana to Pulga
You will trek approximately 8 km (approximately 4-5 hours) from Malana through alpine meadows to reach the beautiful hamlet of Pulga.
Day 4
Pulga to Bhuntar
You will trek down from Pulga to the road head and drive back to Bhuntar, concluding the trek.

Kids Guidelines

  • Junior trekkers (below 15 years) should have a company of parents/guardians.
  • Trekkers between 15 to 18 years can come solo with the disclaimer form signed by parent/guardian.
  • Kids must be at least 12 years of age to join the trek.
  • Kids above 12 years of age will be required to produce a doctor's certificate to prove that they are physically fit for the trek.
  • The trek is not suitable for kids with high blood pressure or heart conditions.
