The Dwarka Somnath Pilgrimage is a profoundly sacred journey through the spiritual heartland of Gujarat, combining two of the most revered pilgrimage destinations in India — Dwarka and Somnath. Dwarka, believed to be the ancient kingdom of Lord Krishna, is one of the seven sacred cities (Sapta Puri) in Hinduism and one of the four Char Dhams.
The magnificent Dwarkadhish Temple, rising five storeys high and supported by 72 ornately carved pillars, enshrines the deity of Lord Krishna and draws millions of devotees every year.
The sacred Gomti River meets the Arabian Sea here, and taking a holy dip at the Gomti Ghat is considered extremely auspicious. Somnath, located on the southwestern coast of Gujarat, is home to the first and most sacred of the twelve Jyotirlingas — the Somnath Temple.
This ancient temple has been destroyed and rebuilt multiple times through history, yet it stands today as an indomitable symbol of faith and resilience. The spectacular evening aarti at Somnath, with the waves of the Arabian Sea crashing in the background and the sky ablaze with colours, is an experience that leaves every devotee overwhelmed with emotion and devotion. Together, Dwarka and Somnath offer pilgrims a complete spiritual experience encompassing the blessings of both Lord Krishna and Lord Shiva.
