Bodpathri Trek in Kashmir | Young Guns Trekkers

Bodpathri Trek

Beyond Adventure

  • The Bodpathri Trek stands as a monumental journey into the very heart of the last remaining wilderness of the Kashmir Himalayas. Often spoken of in hushed tones by seasoned explorers as the "Great Lakes' quieter cousin," this trail offers a raw, unfiltered experience of high-altitude trekking that few other routes can match. Located in the remote Bandipora district and bordering the legendary Gurez Valley, Bodpathri—which literally translates to the "Big Meadow"—is a landscape that defies modern classification. This is not merely a trekking route; it is a time capsule. As you leave the bustling valley of Srinagar behind and wind your way up through the Razdan Pass, the air changes. It becomes thinner, crisper, and carries the scent of ancient cedar and blue pine. The journey begins in the shadow of the mighty Harmukh massif, where the road ends and the true adventure into the unknown LoC (Line of Control) territory begins. The significance of this trek lies in its isolation; because it requires specific permits and is situated in a sensitive border zone, the meadows have remained untouched by the commercialization that has affected other parts of Kashmir.
