Age Requirement
Minimum Age 18 years
Experience Prior high-altitude trekking experience (above 4,000m) is mandatory, as this is a strenuous trek involving glacier traverses.
Fitness High level of cardiovascular endurance and mental grit are essential to handle long days at extreme altitudes.
Fitness Criteria
1. he trekker should have sufficient stamina to cover 5 km of distance in 25–28 minutes or 10 km in 55 minutes to ensure heart-lung capacity for the pass.
2. If the trekker prefers cycling, he/she should be able to cycle 20 km of distance in 45 minutes with moderate resistance.
3. Trekkers should be able to carry a 12-15 kg backpack during long ascents; if offloading, a 5 kg daypack containing essentials must be carried comfortably.
4. A BMI within the normal range (18.5–24.9) is highly recommended; trekkers outside this range must provide a medical fitness certificate and consult our coordinator.

Convenient start point

Our team will assist with the domestic flight check-in at Kathmandu/Manthali; once at Lukla, our Sherpa guides will take over all logistics.

Options to Reach

Flexible travel choices

Reach Kathmandu via international flights. From Kathmandu, you must travel to the mountain airstrip at Lukla to begin the trek.

Flight Option Title: 1. Domestic Flight to Lukla (Tenzing-Hillary Airport)

Flight Option Description: A 35-minute flight from Kathmandu (or Manthali during peak months) directly to the gateway of the Everest region.
Road Option Title: 2. Jeep to Tham Danda (Overland Route)

Road Option Description: A rugged 12-15 hour drive from Kathmandu to Tham Danda, followed by 2 days of trekking to join the main trail at Phakding.

Kathmandu to Lukla Approximately 138 km by air.

Journey Itinerary

Day 01
Short drive to the base village followed by a 4-5 hour climb through thick forests.
Day 02
A steady ascent through oak and pine trees to reach a stunning high-altitude meadow.
Day 03
Summit the pass for panoramic views of the Himalayas before descending to the Nagruni campsite.
Day 04
A long descent through the "Magic Valley" and forests to reach the historic village of Malana.
Day 05
A short walk to the Malana Dam/Jari followed by a 2-hour drive back to Manali.

  • Accommodation: Standard teahouse/lodge stay on a twin-sharing basis during the trek and hotel stay in Kathmandu.
  • Meals: All high-calorie vegetarian and egg-based meals (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) from Lukla to Lukla.
  • Permits: All necessary permits including the Sagarmatha National Park entry fee and Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality permit.
  • Guide & Staff: Highly experienced, English-speaking Sherpa guides and necessary porters (1 porter for 2 trekkers).
  • Safety Gear: First aid kits, oxygen cylinders for emergencies, and pulse oximeters for daily oxygen saturation checks.

  • Flights: International airfare to Kathmandu and domestic flights from Kathmandu/Manthali to Lukla.
  • Insurance: Mandatory travel and medical insurance with emergency helicopter evacuation coverage up to 6,000m.
  • Personal Expenses: Hot showers, Wi-Fi, battery charging fees at teahouses, and laundry services.
  • Beverages: Mineral water, alcoholic drinks, and carbonated beverages.
  • Tips: Gratuities for trekking guides, porters, and kitchen staff.

Kids Guidelines

Everything parents need to know to make this trek safe, fun and worry-free for young adventurers.

Minimum Age: Strictly 16+ years.

High Altitude Risk: Because this trek remains above 4,000 meters for over 10 days and involves a glacier crossing at 5,420m, it is not recommended for younger children.

Preparation: Teenagers must have prior experience with high-altitude treks (minimum 4,000m) and a proven ability to walk for 8+ hours in cold, thin-air conditions.

Supervision: All minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian at all times.
