It is a trek that offers a profound sense of solitude, spiritual energy, and a panoramic window into the snowy peaks of the north, providing a holistic escape from the modern world.
- The geography of the Govind Pashu Vihar and the Sangla Valley is uniquely suited for those who wish to experience the transition from high-alpine meadows to the raw, unadulterated world of permanent ice. The journey begins in the remote village of Liwari, the last settlement in the Supin Valley, where the lifestyle of the local community has changed little over the centuries. Experience Prior experience of at least 2-3 technical treks (like Pin Parvati or Auden’s Col) is mandatory.
Fitness Criteria
1. Must be able to cover 10 km in 55 minutes.
3. Ability to carry 12-15 kg on high-altitude glacial terrain.
4. Must be between 18.5 and 27.

A long 10-hour drive through the scenic Tons valley, passing through Mori and Netwar to reach the last motorable village.

A 5-6 hour walk through ancient forests and local fields, settling into the lifestyle of the remote Garhwal villages.

The climb begins in earnest as you leave the villages behind and enter the high meadows used by local shepherds.

A steady ascent along the river, crossing the treeline into the alpine zone where the air begins to thin.

A challenging day navigating moraines and boulders to set up camp at the foot of the Khimloga glacier.

A mandatory rest day to adjust to the altitude. The team practices using ropes, harnesses, and crampons for the pass crossing.

A push to the snowline. You will camp on the glacier or a rocky clearing, preparing for a midnight start.

The summit day. A technical climb up the snow wall to the pass, followed by a steep and long descent into the Baspa Valley of Himachal.
