  • The Panchachuli Base Camp Trek is an extraordinary and deeply rewarding 7-day adventure through the breathtakingly beautiful and largely unexplored landscapes of the Kumaon Himalayas in Uttarakhand, leading to the spectacular base camp of the iconic Panchachuli massif — a group of five magnificent snow-capped peaks that dominate the skyline of the Kumaon region and hold deep spiritual significance in Hindu mythology.

Age Requirement
Minimum Age 10 years and above
Experience Having past experience of trekking surely helps. Prior experience with high-altitude trekking is recommended. If the participants have any medical condition, it is highly recommended to be consulted by doctor and also please inform us beforehand so we can arrange the logistics accordingly. Experienced Trekkers: Suitable for trekkers with prior high-altitude trekking experience looking for a challenging and rewarding Kumaon Himalayan adventure.
Fitness Participants with medical conditions such as hypertension, heart problems, or respiratory issues should consult their doctor before participating. Not suitable for those with serious medical conditions including severe heart conditions and chronic respiratory issues.
Fitness Criteria
1. The Trekker should have sufficient stamina to cover 5 km of distance by jogging in 35 minutes without stress or 10 km of distance in 80 minutes without stress.
3. If the trekker wants to carry a backpack then he/she should be able to carry a 10-12 kg backpack. If opting for Off-load option then the trekker should be able to carry a 3-5 kg backpack.
4. If a trekker's BMI is more or less than the normal range (18-29), please consult our Trek Coordinator before booking.

Flexible travel choices

By Air:Nearest airport is Pantnagar Airport (approximately 35 km from Kathgodam). From Pantnagar, hire a taxi to Kathgodam.
From Kathgodam: hire a taxi or take a local bus to Dar village (starting point of the trek). Your trek leader will guide you from Dar on Day 1.

By Train:

Take a train to Kathgodam railway station. Kathgodam is well connected to all major cities including Delhi, Lucknow, and Mumbai.

By Bus:

Direct buses available from Delhi ISBT and other major cities to Kathgodam or Haldwani (approximately 8-9 hours from Delhi).

Journey Itinerary

Day 01
You will drive approximately 250 km (approximately 8-9 hours) from Kathgodam to reach Dar base village in the Kumaon Himalayas.
Day 02
You will trek approximately 8 km (approximately 5-6 hours) through lush pine and oak forests to reach Phurkia campsite.
Day 03
You will trek approximately 7 km (approximately 4-5 hours) through scenic mountain trails and verdant meadows to reach Barari.
Day 04
You will trek approximately 6 km (approximately 3-4 hours) to reach the traditional Kumaoni village of Sarmoli. Experience local culture and warm Kumaoni hospitality.
Day 05
Rest and acclimatization day at Sarmoli. Explore the village, interact with locals, and enjoy stunning views of the Panchachuli peaks.
Day 06
Early morning trek approximately 10 km (approximately 5-6 hours) to the spectacular Panchachuli Base Camp at an altitude of 4,620 m (15,157 ft). Enjoy breathtaking close-up views of all five Panchachuli peaks. Return to Sarmoli.
Day 07
You will trek approximately 21 km (approximately 7-8 hours) descending back to Dar village, then drive approximately 250 km (approximately 8-9 hours) back to Kathgodam.

Kids Guidelines

Everything parents need to know to make this trek safe, fun and worry-free for young adventurers.

Junior trekkers (below 10 years) are not allowed on this trek.

Trekkers between 10 to 15 years should have a company of parents/guardians at all times.

Trekkers between 15 to 18 years can come solo with the disclaimer form signed by parent/guardian.

A doctor's certificate proving physical fitness is mandatory for all trekkers below 18 years.

Trek is not suitable for kids with high blood pressure or heart conditions.
