  • The Tulian Lake Trek is a profound 5-day odyssey into the heart of the Anantnag district in Jammu and Kashmir. Rising to a majestic altitude of 3,684 meters (12,087 feet), this expedition is a journey of transition—from the whispering pine forests of the Lidder Valley to a high-altitude glacial basin where time appears to stand still. Situated 16 kilometers southwest of Pahalgam, Tulian Lake is not merely a body of water; it is a geological masterpiece, a turquoise jewel held in the palm of the Pir Panjal and Zanskar ranges, offering an experience of "Wild Kashmir" that remains etched in the soul of every adventurer.

Age Requirement
Minimum Age 5 to 65 years
Experience Prior trekking experience is beneficial but not mandatory for this trek. The trail is achievable for beginners with a reasonable level of fitness. Having past trekking experience in forested and mountain terrain helps build confidence for the steeper sections near the lake. If participants have any medical condition, it is highly recommended to consult a doctor and inform us in advance so we can arrange logistics accordingly. Solo and Group Trekkers: Suitable for both beginners with a reasonable fitness level and experienced trekkers seeking a moderate high-altitude Kashmir adventure through pristine forests, meadows, and glacial lake terrain.
Fitness Pre-existing conditions such as high blood pressure, cardiac issues, or chronic respiratory disorders should be disclosed before joining the trek. Participants with a history of altitude sickness should consult a doctor before booking. This trek is not suitable for those with serious unmanaged health conditions.
Fitness Criteria
1. The trekker should have sufficient stamina to cover 5 km by jogging in 35 minutes without stress.
3. If the trekker wants to carry a backpack, he/she should be able to carry a 10–12 kg backpack.
4. If a trekker's BMI is more or less than the normal range (18–29), please consult our Trek Coordinator before booking.

How to Reach

Options to Reach

Flexible travel choices

By Air: Fly into Srinagar International Airport (SXR), well connected to Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chandigarh. Transport from Srinagar to Ganesh Bal is arranged by the trek team on Day 1.

By Train

Nearest major railhead is Jammu Tawi Railway Station, well connected to Delhi and other major cities. From Jammu, take a bus or taxi to Srinagar (approximately 8–9 hours). Banihal Railway Station is also an option with a 2-hour taxi ride to Srinagar.

Journey Itinerary

Day 01
You will drive approximately 85 km (approximately 2–3 hours) from Srinagar to Ganesh Bal (2,126 m) and trek approximately 4.5 km (approximately 3 hours) to reach Deno Valley at an altitude of 2,516 m.
Day 02
You will trek approximately 6 km (approximately 5–6 hours) through dense forests and open meadows to reach the scenic Kanimool campsite at an altitude of 2,897 m.
Day 03
You will trek approximately 4 km (approximately 4–5 hours) through steep rocky terrain and boulder sections to reach Tulian Valley campsite at an altitude of 3,221 m.
Day 04
You will ascend approximately 5 km (approximately 4–5 hours) to reach the breathtaking Tulian Lake at an altitude of 3,684 m (12,087 ft) and descend back to Tulian Valley campsite.
Day 05
You will descend approximately 13 km (approximately 5–6 hours) from Tulian Valley back to Ganesh Bal and drive approximately 85 km (approximately 2–3 hours) back to Srinagar.

Kids Guidelines

Everything parents need to know to make this trek safe, fun and worry-free for young adventurers.

Children below 15 years should be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout the trek.

Trekkers between 15 to 18 years can join with a disclaimer form signed by a parent or guardian.

A doctor's certificate proving physical fitness is mandatory for all trekkers below 18 years.
